Besides eating bananas, sleeping, and cycling, I run. And I can’t explain why I do. I just do. For some reason, you’ll probably see me grinning while I’m in pain, racing through the woods… Back in December, I wasn’t doing much. So I decided to try Winter Track. I absolutely loved it. And I have been running rigorously ever since. It’s not about competition for me, I train hard because I like to, and I run long and easy because it is just fun. For as long as I’ve been running, I’ve done the Mile, or 1600m, as my main event! And what a relationship I have with the Mile. It hurts me, but I still choose to race. I don’t have to…. I went from running 5:14 at the beginning of winter, to 4:55 by the start of spring. At the race pictured, the county championships, I ran 4:40:13. Then I think around a week or two later I ran 4:38 at the state qualifier. Time has no meaning to me, however. And I frequently tell this to my teammates, my best buds, who can get down about running some time they didn’t want to. Fast, slow, good, bad, are all subjective. There’s no clock. Get out there and experience what you love, whatever that may be!
Simply put, I love bananas.
Just ran a nice easy recovery 6 miles after a hilly first cross country meet yesterday!!! More on that later. And now, carbing up. Go vegan (heavy on the fruits) for the best, fastest, easiest recovery for any sport! :D
A winter lunch I had some time ago. Looks pretty yummy! Romaine lettuce with onion, tomato, red bell pepper, strawberries, blood orange, apple, and two plums. Don’t forget to carb the fruit up and stay hydrated!! ;)
Got these in the mail yesterday. Some awesome almost 100% post-consumer recycled Brooks Green Silence shoes! I’m not going to run in them, because I’ve got my trusty Vibram Fivefingers that I’ve been running in virtually since I started running back in January! Also, my bike is in the shop. I’ll have to post a picture and description of my bike later… First day of school is Tuesday, along with my first cross country race! I am so fucking excited…
Have a wonderful day and don’t forget to carb the fruit up!! Oh, and got these cool shorts on sale. I got them because they are one of the only pairs of already fairly short shorts I’ve seen for sale… I’m too lazy to cut shorts to my preferred length sometimes…
That was last week’s banana box. Today I’m going to go to the wonderful Whole Foods to get 40 pounds of organic fair trade bananas to replenish. And, this came in the mail. It was a nice message inside, but what they really meant to say was just "go vegan!!!!!"….
Haven’t been posting in a while! Just to get back into the swing of things, here’s one from a while ago. Reppin’ the vegan shirt from Pure Apparel, doing a few miles on the old track bike.
I’m here in beautiful Almyrida, Crete, Greece, visiting what I’d like to call my homeland, even though my mother’s side of the family is from an island closer to the mainland, and my father was born up there in Macedonia… The water here is amazingly clear, as is the sky which has layers of dark blue, violet, and red, at night. It’s amazing to go down to the local fruit shop every morning and get the fresh Greek produce that they have! I’m eating 100% raw for the first time in a little, because it’s really kinda easy over here! I’m constantly eating the classic Greek salad when eating at restaurants, cucumbers, tomatoes, tossed with onions and peppers, without the feta cheese, and without the olive oil. Being that both cucumbers and tomatoes are fruit (I think), I’m eating probably 90-05% all fruit!! I honestly feel amazing. And this morning I attempted this half of a probably 10kg or more watermelon, which I’m still nibbling at. Don’t be fooled by this picture, this thing was huge…
WOW! so i just pounded down a 10 banana smoothie with some sugar (certified vegan, of course), but i had watched a Durianrider video concerning pulsing the smoothie instead of blending constantly, and it turned out TOTALLY different, in my opinion! it went down easier than the other 10 nanner one i had this morning, and it kinda had a different texture. any of you guys experience the same thing? if you havent, try it out and i would be curious to see if it turns out better for you as well. feeling great with over 2000 calories coming all from fruit!!
Hi! thanks so much, but theres many other young fruit munchers out there haha.. anyway, ive been a vegan for two years now, got into high carb low fat/fruit/raw veganism about 8 months ago. i guess i started because i read Dr. Doug Graham’s book the 80/10/10 Diet, (HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING) and because i was watching people like Durianriders and Freelea, and FullyRaw Kristina on YouTube, who were all really helpful to me in the beginning. I think i knew fruit was awesome for you and that eating more raw based would be healthier. i realized after a few months that it had effected every single aspect of my life, but largely in running and cycling, and overall health obviously. tips would be make sure you get enough calories from high carb low fat sources, and that you dont have to be 100% raw in the beginning, or ever, to get “results”!! rice, potatoes, beans, and other starchy cooked foods are great at night after eating raw for the whole day. if you buy in bulk you can do this pretty cheaply, at least for me! of course, organic is always more expensive, but worth it. and potatoes and rice and bananas are always cheap…no problem, i probably didnt answer your questions really well, but ask again if you have any other questions or want specific answers!
